My idea was to decontextualize a ps3 controller to represent it as a music machine. So I took a video of someone playing a game and broke down the individual noises and made them into a coherent song.

Sight Short Film

I LOVE THIS SHORT FILM! I have seen it before and I didn't really appreciate it for the technology aspect but holy crap! I definitely think this is stuff we will see in the near future. I really liked the film aspect to it and the cinematography was outstanding. Without all the graphics this short would not of been as cool or as powerful. I really liked there eyes and how they showed up as screens. I also think that if something like this were to become a reality it would become very hard to tell what is digital and what is not digital. For me the most interesting part is the games and how there lives revolve around games. I think that is a really cool aspect of integration from our gaming systems today.
This will be my last blog post for art 211 and I am really sad this class is over ;( It was a great class and Santi thank you for making me join this class it was really great!!!

Golan Levin interview and Website

Interview :
I really liked watching the interview and see him answer questions from his fans. I got really annoyed with the video because it was filmed with the connected and he filmed it in 3d space. My eyes started to hurt after watching it for about 5 minutes. After about 8 minutes my eyes hurt so bad I could not watch it and could only listen to it. I think this video form is something for the future and something we will see a lot more of but for now it was to distracting from the content of the video. Aside form the video I really liked the part where he talked about how we should all know coding but not just physical but software to web to java to ruby, so that way we have a really good overall view of the technology.

Out of all the cool projects he has posted on his website I choose to write about the digital bar. I really liked this concept and thought it was really cool because it was something someone of all ages could enjoy. I also really like how they interact table to table and could bring the whole bar together. It was also really cool that if someone put a drink down the little fish would circle the drink and create almost the same colors as the liquid in the glass. I wish I had the chance to see this in person.

Sheryl Oring

I wish I could have met this lady and had her write one of the I Wish to Say Letters. I think this is an incredible idea and an outstanding way to get people to send letters to the president. One of the letters that caught my attention was a letter from a 9 year old girl. I really like seeing the innocence in the letter of how the little girl just says "you are the best". I wish everyone could see things through the eyes of a little kid and still have the innocence we dream of. I think her idea of writing letters captures the true feelings of people and shares it with the president.

Massive Attack

A group that changed the world of music. In 1991 they released the first album "Blue Lines". I really like there rhythmic beats and trance like music. I feel this band set some new boundaries for the style of music. After listening to almost the whole album "Blue Lines" I feel in love with them. I really like there music.
After following up on some of there lyrics I found it very interesting that the group had some big political pushes. I really liked finding that they stood up for what they believed in and that they we not afraid to speak out about it such as the war in Iraq. I am going to keep listening to there music and reading more about them.

HOLY CRAP! The things some people create is amazing! I really liked going through this website and I am saving it for future digging. It was hard for me to pick my 3 favorites since I spent about 4 hours on the site going through the videos. But for some unknown reason I was drawn to the stop motions ones.

I really liked this one video because ever since I was little I have been skateboarding.

The next video I chose was one with legos and music because it is a visual representation on everything we have been learning.

Performance Art Critique

Gina - No video to see

Andrea - I really like the idea! I love how it works with your major and how you asked people to paint slogans that they remembered. Although it may not have gone to plan and they painted random things I really liked the idea behind it. I wish you were standing up when being painted.

Bryan - THE COMPUTERS! Amazing idea. I just wish you made people look at you and put yourself in the way to force them to look. 

Kirby - I really liked everything you did. You made people stop driving to pay attention to you! Perfect! The only thing I would change would be so you could see peoples reactions.

Holly - No video to see (it said private). I really like the idea after reading your description. Just wish I could see it. 

Marveen - You could of done much better. Holding the camera directly over them took away from the whole project. We also could not see any reactions. 

Katelyn - I LOVE IT! Great idea with the sign and how you went onto a main street and distracted people. I wish you could do a bigger sign and kind of play around with it. 

Leah - Great project! The paint really shows peoples emotions and I think you did a great job. I wish you brought the board to class to see. 

Ralph - Great idea and concept! I loved seeing people interact with the piece and become one with your art. It made the idea come to life in many ways and helped you.
